Our visits with Santa are a bit different than what you will see at the mall or any other studio!
Santa will have a full visit with each child. Different poses include sitting on Santa's lap, sharing

The Pony Express!!!!

Do you remember when you were a kid and all you wanted was a PONY?

I was one of the lucky ones because I had one, well, for a short time until it bit my sister Paula and we had to give it a new home. I am still mad at Paula for pulling the pony's ears and making her mad.

Well, for all of our kids who have ever dreamed of having their very own pony we have a great treat.

We have a pony that will be at Moments from 10 till 2 on Saturday July 23rd and if you are interested you might want to call 812-282-2300 pretty quickly. With this session we can do either Cowboys and Cowgirls, or My Pretty Pony Princesses or Princes, just let us know which you would like when you schedule. This is a Kids Club event with NO SESSION FEE and packages beginning at $20.00. We only have a few spots left so call today and get on the list. We have costumes but you are welcome to bring your own props also.

Our Kid's Club set for the month is Teddy Bear Tea Picnic. It is a very pretty set with the traditional red checked tablecloth and wicker picnic basket. And of course Teddy Bears and a tea set. I will post some pictures soon!

Hey Everybody, Cathie here! Wow, we have been so busy today! Conner was here this afternoon for his newborn session, We had 3 proof session scheduled and now Miss Lori is pouring her creativity out on an unsuspecting Senior from Charlestown. (Elizabeth has noooo idea what she is in for!)

Christie and I spent some time today planning our next few sessions. We are still doing "Punk Rockers" for anyone from 2 years old to......well, just let me say that if you are 60 and are a closet Punk Rocker, we would love to have you model for us!

But, THE big event we are scheduling is "OUR PONY"!!!!!

We have a pony that will be here from 10 till 2 on July 24th. We already have scheduled 3 sessions for this and we just let the cat out of the bag today!! So if you are interested you might want to call 812-282-2300 pretty quickly. With this session we can do either Cowboys and Cowgirls, or My Pretty Pony Princesses or Princes, just let us know which you would like when you schedule. Miss Lori has been busy creating competition prints from the model sessions we had in the spring. I can't wait to see how they do in competition! We all know Miss Lori is really great at what she does so I know she will do awesome in competition.

Mr. Ed Shain - Moments Firefighter Calendar

Today I had the pleasure of photographing Firefighter Ed Shain. When I arrived, I found Ed sitting on the front of a fire truck with a grimace on his face. Ed’s not one to actually enjoy getting his photo taken, nor is he very excited about talking about himself. So it took a little while to get him talking.

Ed is nearly 71 years young. He became a volunteer fire fighter in Charlestown, IN, in October of 1968 and he’s still there – that’s over 40 years of dedicated service. He credits his mentors, Bob Brewer and Bill Collins for encouraging him to become a firefighter in the first place.

Ed spent his civilian life as a mechanic working on all types of equipment, big and small. He’s the “go to” guy for anything mechanical. It seems that there isn’t anything that can go wrong with a fire truck that Ed can’t fix.

For the last 15 years he has dedicated countless hours to the Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department’s Cadet Program. He has trained several generations of firefighters in every aspect of fire service – including his own children and grand children. You can’t begin to speak about the history of the Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department without mentioning Ed.

Firefighter, Chris Upton, says that if it were not for Ed, he would not be the person he is today. “Ed is an excellent individual who strives to do everything in his power to make sure every cadet has every question answered and all training needs met to allow the best transition into fire service.”

When asked about memories that stand out for him in his duties as a firefighter, you see a bit of emotion come to the surface as he talks about the people he couldn’t save, usually in car accidents. Those seem to haunt him as he talks about the individuals.

The best memories are about houses that have been saved. Devastation and destruction avoided because of the dedication of an experienced team, many of which owe their knowledge to Ed Shain. Congratulations, Ed! You deserve to be in our calendar!

We are Looking for Models!

Miss Lori is working on various images for competition and we are looking for models. Each model will receive a free 4x6 for working with us. Parents must be willing to sign a model release allowing us to use the images for competition, marketing purposes and other items. We will be photographing children alone and also in groups.

Little Growing Spurts
Do you shop at Little Growing Spurts? If so, we are looking for you! We need models wearing items purchased at LGS. Boys and girls of all ages. Days and times are flexible.

Session With Teddy Bears
Currently looking for babies between 6 and 10 months old who are sitting up entirely on their own for a session this FRIDAY, MARCH 18th at 2:00. Babies need to have a diaper cover. Call Miss Lori if you are interested! 282-2300

Tutus and Tattooz (Big Girls)
This is going to be a lot of fun. We are looking for little girls between 1 and 6 who love to dress up and show off. Some girls may get a temporary tattoo. We have lots of tutu's but you can also bring your own. Models should wear a tank top or t-shirt (no logos) with solid colored panties or bloomers. (just incase you can see through the tutu). The first model session will be on Saturday, March 19 at 3:00.

Tutus and Tattooz (Infants)
Same as above but for baby girls up to 1 year. Tuesday, March 22 at 11:00.

Happy Faces
We are looking for boys and girls from 3 to 6 who like to wear hats, sunglasses and other dress up items. Children must be able to follow direction and like to have fun! Tuesday, March 22 at 2:00

Little Sweethearts
We need boys and girls from 4 to 8. This session will be outside. Children should be a bit dressy - no t-shirts with writing or pictures on them. If you have cute jackets, sweaters, hats, etc., please bring those, too. Thursday, March 24th 2:00.

Soft and White
We are looking for models between 6 and 10 months old who are sitting up on their own for a session on all white with lots of soft pillows and such. Babies need to have a white diaper cover. We are scheduling for Friday, March 25th at 3:00

Rain Gear
We want kids from 1 year and up (they must be able to stand alone) who have cute rain coats, umbrellas and rain boots. This session will be outside on Friday, April 1 at 4:00.

Sport Kids
We're looking for boys and girls of all ages who play outdoor sports. Kids need to come in uniform with any equipment they have (gloves, bats, balls, helmets, etc.) Sessions will be outside throughout the day on Saturday, April 9th (weather permitting).

We are very excited about all of these model sessions and hope you find one you might be interested in. Space is limited on every session, so don't wait to get on the schedule. If we get more interest than the times we currently have scheduled permit, then a second day may be added for any particular session.

You know how it is in the wintertime. For me I spend hours looking through gardening books so I can order my flowers in time to plant them at the first "frost free" opportunity. I also get the huge paint chip book from Porter Paints so I can plan what rooms in the house will get a fresh coat of paint.

Well, it's no different at Moments. Miss Lori has created 4 new backgrounds, exclusive to Moments and our clients. She has a new blue, a pink, a black and white and a green print background. We have used them for several newborn shots and they are amazing. She is tweaking the lighting for these in the baby room, just wait until you see these portraits! BTW, the pink background looks great for our "Love Letters" sessions and we have the valentines on special for the next week!

The other item on the agenda is to ramp up our boutique. We are looking for some talented moms who can bring great unique first rate items to the table. We will display them and sell them on a consignment basis. If you have a cottage industry that you need a retail outlet, please give us a call at 282-2300.

And finally, we are planning our spring marketing blitz and we would love some quotes from our customers to use in our advertising along with your name and maybe your photo. Well the trees are down and the Santa suit is at the cleaners. Christie has begun her next set (which is Cowboys and the Wild West, by the way!). Miss Lori has gathered her "Love Letters" for the Valentine's Kids Club settings. And we are all learning much more about "Chocolate Portraiture". If you are like me, anything that has something to do with Chocolate is just up my alley!

We are continuing to firm up plans for this next year and creating new sets and themes. We know how much you enjoy our creativity and we try to live up to that standard always.
I have been busy sending out gift certificates to your referrals as you send them in. We have about 20 people who are registered to win the Gallery Wrap Portrait but we have a lot more gift certificates to send out. It's almost 2011!

Can you believe how quickly this year has passed? I'm sure for our high school seniors, the sound of 2011 is very exciting.

It is for us here at Moments as well. We all had a wonderful Christmas. Jacob and Heather got engaged (you can see the video on my facebook page) and we're all looking forward to a terrific new year.

We're starting off with several specials.

Wow...That's all I can say is W.O.W.

As in the Working Woman of the Week from Lite 106.9 WVEZ.

Of course when Jake and I heard of the contest there was no doubt we would nominate our Miss Lori. They pulled Jake's nomination and of course Lite 106.9 couldn't resist. So, if you have been listening to the Christmas Carol station you have heard her name!

Here is Miss Lori with her statue and her roses! She also received gift certificates, a gym membership and of course, a partridge in a pear tree!

But, wait! That's not all.

On Thursday, at their annual Christmas Party, Lori was inducted into the Professional Photographers Association of Greater Louisville's Hall of Fame "In recognition of outstanding contributions to our Photographic community through dedication, integrity, service and professionalism". Lori has been a member of the PPAGL since 1998 and has served as President in 2004-2005 and 2008. She has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1998.

Of course, these awards have been a great distraction from this hectic week at the studio. As you know this is our busiest week of all year! Well, Jake and Lori have been totally stressed out because not only one, but both printers have decided to stop working. Then Lori had an issue with a call center from India, prints and framing and Santa prints and on and on!

Lori, Jake, Christie and I would like to take this time to wish you the Happiest of All Christmas' Ever! Thank You for being a part of the Moments family. We love you all!

Santa Visits at Moments

So I guess you are all in the Christmas Spirit, right? Well what would be Christmas without Santa?

So.....Don't forget our Moments With Santa on Saturday from 2-4. Santa will be hanging out in our lobby just to find out what everyone wants for Christmas. Photo packages will be available, but no purchase is necessary for the visit.

Also, Saturday morning from 9 am - 11 am Santa will be at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sellersburg for Breakfast with Santa. The cost will be $5.00 and a canned good for the Sellersburg Food Pantry. Moments will be there to provide professional photos if you would like. Children will be able to visit with Santa, eat breakfast, hear Christmas stories and do holiday activities!

Next Saturday, December 11th, Santa will be at Moments again for quick takes. This time Santa will be here from 10am - 2 pm.

Whew, Santa really gets around this time of year! So come see us and Santa and don't forget to bring your Christmas list, too.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Santa is here today and we have having a blast with him and the Children! They are so excited to get a present from Santa and to give Santa cookies and milk! It is amazing to see the reaction from different Children to Santa. Some can't wait to see him and even hang on and hug him time and time again.

While others stand back and look from afar.

And then there are the screamers!!!!! Wow some of our kids don't want to even be in the same room.

I watched Miss Lori work her magic today, time and time again. We had a couple of little ones who were terrified even standing next to Santa. Well, we all know Miss Lori's motto: "Children do not cry in the Studio. If they need to be fed, we will stop and eat. If they need to be changed, we will stop and change them, and if they need a hug, we will stop to give some cuddles". We had a little one that was just not happy one bit about being near Santa. Miss Lori put her camera to the side and gently held him and talked to him in her special "Miss Lori" way. Well in just a minute or two he was fine and let her put him on Santa's chair, while Santa walked in the other room. He opened his present and held his little brother and Miss Lori started taking pictures and the next thing we knew, Santa was back in the room, in the picture and all was good.

So now I know what Christmas Magic really is about!

BTW.....Santa will be here again next Saturday if you would like to come sit on his lap and tell him what you want for Christmas. I know he would love to see you! Call us at 812-282-2300 to reserve your "Santa" time!

Why Choose Custom Photography?

Custom Photography is something "special".

Custom photography is more of a luxury than your entry level cookie cutter chain experience. Custom photography truly is not for everyone, it requires a level of commitment, investment in time and money, forethought and planning on the part of the subject/client and requires a larger time commitment for the photographer as well. Clients who enjoy taking a more active role in the creation of their families' memories have the desire to have portrait art that is truly personalized. These more discerning clients have been known to budget and allow time for a custom photography session.

Many clients opt for it to be a once a year special experience, some opt to have custom photography sessions done to record their child's stages in life. Having said this, it is clear that custom photography is not in every one's budget, it is something that most families save for to splurge on from time to time to memorialize their children as they really are (not posed and primped in the cookie cutter studio setting). There is a great deal of time involved in creating high end custom photography sessions for a client.

The luxury of great service, better choices and a superb end product.

The result of all this are heirloom quality images. The time invested at the session is only a small portion of time involved in this process. Custom photography has been likened to purchasing a fine vehicle. To get to point B from A, let's face it, even a bus ride would suffice. If you want to luxuriate in a finely appointed vehicle, customizing your own experience by listening to smooth jazz while sitting in a climate controlled setting adjusted purely for your comfort in a body hugging leather interior, perhaps that Lexus you so desire is your cup of tea.

Custom photography is much the same cup of tea. It is the Lexus of the photography world. It is where the intangibles make the experience truly wonderful and the images themselves make the investment of money and time truly worthwhile. Custom photography can be broken down into even more levels. There are on location, studio, mixed studio/on location, specialty location and destination type photographers. The beauty of custom photography is in the choices and in the luxury of those options.

The customized service level you are sure to experience will be amazing

The knowledge that your final images are the result of someone caring about those moments so much that they take extra time ensuring that the artwork you receive is good enough to stand by with their name on it. That level of quality and commitment is all but lost in the age of "mass produced," "mass marketed," corporate "everyone is a number". Custom photography is based on being unique to you. How great an experience would be, to be able to sit back and allow a photographer to do this highly custom work for images that you will most likely cherish for a lifetime?

Keep in mind more than anything that the Lexus will never appreciate in value the way your portraits will. The portrait art you become invested in from your custom photographer will no doubt increase in value and become more priceless as the years pass.

Why does Custom Photography cost more?

The digital revolution has brought amazing flexibility and ability to control various factors during the image taking and making process. Photographers, the hobbyist, the professional, the amateur all benefit from this ability to manipulate pixels. However, with flexibility comes a price. Digital camera equipment is still considerably more expensive when you factor in its' lifespan, the need for additional resources for processing those images, the time it takes to get a usable image and the effort that goes into creating a work of photographic art.

We all know that you can go to the local Walgreen's and pay a $1.99 for a print. As a client you may wonder why you may pay upwards of $50, $70, $90 for a custom photography print. Photographers hear this statement every once in awhile: "How in the world can you charge $60 for an 8x10 if it costs me less than $2 to print at x store?" The truth of the matter is the answer to this question is multifaceted. Much of the cost of a photographic print produced by a professional photographer has a lot to do with the time, equipment costs, artistic vision and reputation of the photographer not to mention expertise and the usual costs of running a legitimate business.

The cost of TIME

Approaching it from a time standpoint, let's imagine that you have hired a photographer who has work that you love. This photographer is traveling an hour to your destination to photograph your session. Here is an example of a time break down: booking time: 30 minutes to one hour (client contact time + paperwork) pre-session prep time (30 mins x 1 hour, includes equipment and back up equipment checks + vehicle checks) one hour travel time TO session 15-30 minutes prep time at client's home 90 minutes-2 hours with client photographing subject one hour travel time FROM session 30-45 minutes uploading time from digital cards from camera to computer 30-45 minutes time spent backing up the original images 2-5 hours editing time to present you with a diverse gallery of edited images 1 hour prep time getting ready for ordering 2-3 hours time with client for ordering images 1 hour sorting through and checking order 30 minutes-1 hour prep time for delivery 30 minutes-1 hour getting order shipped any additional phone time or time needed for add on ordering, shipment issues, quality issues

In this example, the time spent per client can range from just under 13 hours to 19 hours, dependent on the photographer's level of service. This is time dedicated only to ONE session. When the photographer charges $150-$300 for the photo shoot(aka SESSION FEE) you are not just paying for the two hours of session time, you are paying the photographer for 12-19 hours complete time for your session. The COSTS of Maintaining a Custom Photography Business: Regarding equipment costs, a good quality professional camera with a selection of good optical quality lenses and digital storage mediums and computer set up can run from $10,000-$30,000 costs dependent on the photographer.

Even though you can purchase a really good quality digital SLR for about $2100 there are still other costs related to photography. A good lens for portrait photography can run from $900 to $2500. A dependable computer system with software loaded for business and creative usage can run $2500 to $8000 dependent on the photographer. Then come lab costs for specialty products. A good photographer knows their professional lab is an integral part of their success. These labs often cost more and offer a range of products that allows the custom photographer to continually offer new, innovative products for the discerning client. Discussion on other costs of running a photography business could take awhile so we'll skip many of the intricate details. An overview: the costs of running the business, taxes, studio rental/mortgage if the photographer has ownership of a dedicated studio, vehicular costs, costs of advertising/marketing, costs of sample pieces that the photographer will likely bring to your session, etc.

Apples to Oranges to Bananas

Often times clients will mention to their photographer that X studio in the mall/department store only charges $19.99 for an 8x10 "sheet" or they may mention other things related to discount photography chains. The fact is those discount chains make their money on volume, not on customized 1:1 service. In February 2007 a company who has leased photography retail space in a rather well known discount retailer closed down 500 of their portrait studios across the nation. The reason it happened is simple, you cannot make money on 99 cent "professional" prints if you do not sell enough of them. Interestingly enough, those same studios that offer the loss leader packages often charge much much more for their a la cart pricing vs. many custom photographers (as high as $40-50 for an 8x10).

A little history: the whole reason the big department stores began offering portrait services in the first place was to get you, the savvy consumer, in through their door so that you could spend more money with them in other departments. Your "PORTRAITS" are considered the "loss leader". Your portraits that are meant to symbolize a once-in-a-lifetime stage in your child's life are part of what a store considers a way to get you in there door to spend more money on goods that you might not really want or need but because you're there "anyway" you buy. Also keep in mind that when you go to a chain studio, as a consumer, you don't have the benefit of 1:1 attention for 2 hours at your home where your child is allowed to explore, play and be comfortable in their home environment, nor do you get the experience that many custom photographers are known for as well as the lovely captures of natural expressions. You simply get a bare bones, "SAY CHEESE" experience.

REPUTATION/EXPERTISE of the PHOTOGRAPHER

There is an old story about a ship that cost a company millions of dollars. Something went wrong in the engine room and the ship was stuck in dock. They called various "experts" who spent weeks trying to fix the issue to no avail and at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars. Finally an older gentleman was called in who simply brought in his small tool bag and a hammer. He set about pinging on various parts of the vast engine with his hammer, finally settling on one area. He spent a few minutes pinging in that area, took out a few tools and fixed whatever what was wrong. After a few moments the man straightened up, looked at the captain and instructed him to "start her up." The captain disbelievingly went to get the engines started while the man sat in the engine room listening as the engine roared to life. The man tipped his hat as he exited the ship to the staff who sat dumbfounded because they had seen all the experts come on board for days with their expensive equipment only to have the ship not fixed. This man did it in a few minutes with a few pings of his hammer!

A few days passed and the man sent the shipping company a bill for $10,000. The accounting department contacted him immediately. Why all the rumors mentioned that this man had only spent "a few minutes" fixing the ship "with his hammer and a few other random tools". When questioned about why his bill was for $10,000? Did he accidentally leave an extra zero on the bill? The man confidently responded: "In fact the time was worth the $1,000. The other $9,000 was for the years of experience and the ability to discern the issue as quickly as possible for the company."

Now I'm not saying that photographers fix large ships but being in demand, being well known for quality work, having a good reputation often costs time on the photographer's part (years of practice, study, experience, etc). A photographer's expertise comes at a cost, their time learning their craft and learning the intricacies of lighting and the commitment put forth on their end to create a persona about their business that oozes professionalism. A great number of photographers go a very long time from the time that they purchase their first good camera to making money at the business of photography. Many photographers, when first starting out, rush in thinking that the business will be easily profitable in no time, how expensive could it be to get a camera and use it to create their dream?

These photographers often undervalue what they do because they have the realization that they do not have experience or expertise but are very adept at pushing the shutter on the camera. Many times these casual "professionals" neglect to factor in the cost of business, the cost of equipment, software, back ups, etc.. When you hire a photographer of sound reputation, you are hiring an expert, one that knows that they must always reinvest in their business to create the reputation of being top notch.

To create good work a photographer possesses not only sound knowledge in the technical and creative aspects of photography but also good, reliable equipment and back up equipment. The photographer who desires to be known as better/best/unparalleled reputation-wise knows that the most important thing they can do for their business is reliability and dependability. This is how reputations get built. Good work often is a wonderful side product of building that good reputation.

I hope this (lengthy) article helps shed some light on WHY a custom photographer is a better choice for your family's memories.The photographs that are produced as a result of the professionalism and dedication that your photographer has will be cherished for a lifetime (or more) and great thought and consideration should be placed into hiring who is right for your family's most precious investment.

This week we are celebrating our Moments Photography staff.

We are all committed to bringing you the most incredible photographic art you will ever own. We realize that your heart is a part of every portrait we create just for you. We also realize the investment you are making with this purchase and appreciate the trust you have placed with us. These things we do not take lightly.

So today we are highlighting your creative team, Lori Reeder and Jacob Reeder.

Miss Lori is our Photographer Extraordinaire! She is able to capture that perfect pose, whether taking a Family Portrait, Senior Sports Shot or a Precious Newborns First Picture. She has over 20 years experience as a photographer, shooting her first wedding when she was only 17, and look where she is now!

Miss Lori is the visionary of the team. She has created a unique environment that allows her staff to be creative and and we in turn can give our customers "one of a kind" portraiture that becomes a precious work of art in your lives.

She lives in New Albany with her husband Ed and their babies "Princess and "Gizmo".

Miss Lori's favorite quote "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you will always be right" pretty much sums up her philosophy. And you know, she always believes she can!

Jacob Reeder is our Senior Graphic Artist. His specialty is helping to make our portraits the works of art our clients have come to expect.

Jacob became interested in graphic design in High School when he took a photography class and learned the software necessary to create unbelievable images. His knowledge of composition and design elements bring an expansive skill base allowing cutting edge portraiture for our clients. Our Seniors really are excited about the cool images Jacob has created.

Jacob and his fiance' Heather live in New Albany. In his free time Jacob enjoys playing video games, disc golf and listening to Pink Floyd.

I have always wondered why people shop for the holidays like they do.

For instance, I have friends who are already finished with all of their shopping and I have others who will wait until the very last minute to do theirs. I have friends who brag that they do all of their shopping on the Internet and just wait for the boxes to "show up" on their doorstep (like my darling husband). And then I have the ones who have the best intentions and the greatest ideas for the perfect present, but because of their procrastination the gift is usually not available when they get around to actually making a purchase!

At our staff production meeting a few weeks ago, we "brainstormed" about our Christmas sets and decided what sets Miss Christy would create. I know it seems a little premature to be planning Christmas before Halloween is even here, but that's our timetable. So, as we were deciding where each set would go and what date it would go up, I thought "How simple would it be for our clients to be able to do all of their Christmas shopping at Moment's?"

I know most people would welcome a great portrait gift of someone special and I have spent hours searching for items that we could use for portrait gifts. Well, TA-DA, we are unveiling our Moment's Holiday Collection for 2010. We are offering everything from fine wall portraits to whimsical one of a kind purses to the perfect picture paperweight for a desk!

There will be Holiday sessions available beginning on November 5Th so we can offer Moments' custom designed Christmas Cards in plenty of time for you to send to everyone on your list. So all you have to do is choose which outfit to wear and which session you want to book!

The Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening Bash

What a terrific day! We had our ribbon cutting along with a special toast to success in our new location in Jeff. We had quite a few people stop by throughout the afternoon. Tomorrow is our big Grand Opening Bash from 1 to 5.

Kids can get their photos taken with Dorothy and Toto. Every family can pick "bonus bucks" off our money tree. The Jeff Police will be giving out Child ID Kits. The Jeff Fire Department is bringing a ladder truck for the kids to explore. We'll have a special drawing for Gift Certificates for a haircut from Mark's Hair Depot, a massage from Massage Therapist Heather Duncan, and others. We'll also be giving away a Photo Purse and other items. So make sure you get in the drawing!!

It was a tough decision to leave Charlestown, but it was time to open the studio up to a larger audience. So far, it seems to have been a great decision. This is only our third week open, and we are already booking sessions from brand new clients who have just "walked in" to see what we are all about.

We are still very involved in Charlestown, especially at the high school and we will continue to be. Last weekend we photographed the Little Pirates Football League and caught up with lots of folks we hadn't seen in a while. I was amazed by the number of 8, 9 and 10 year olds that I photographed when they were just babies and now have watched grow up!

I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new kids and watching the Moments family grow in our new location, but Charlestown will always have a very special place in my heart.

We're headed to Jeffersonville

OMG, the last couple of weeks have been absolutely crazy! We photographed all of the sports for CHS (I still have a few posters to put together, ya'll be patient with me); photographed the doctors at Metro Urology; spent part of the school day at CHS taking senior headshots; had lots of headshots at the studio; photographed lots of seniors and several first birthdays. We welcomed three band new babies, too! Whew!

Now tomorrow (Friday, Sept 10th) we will spend the day packing and starting the move to Jeffersonville. Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be spent unpacking and getting organized.

We'll be back open for business on Tuesday, but we're going to have our big Grand opening on October 2nd from 1 to 6. Dorothy and Toto will be visiting. We'll have refreshments and door prizes, too!

It's going to be a lot of fun and I hope you stop by to visit!

Not your traditional wedding portrait!

You all know I don't do many weddings.
I'll shoot them for my family and friends (usually)
But not many more than that.
Until I talked with Tracy and Greg.
Now I'll shoot a wedding if it's going to be FUN!!

They literally got married in the middle of the woods.
There was a generator to supply the lights and music
(which died just before the ceremony, but Greg's
dad jumped in and saved the day).
The wedding party walked down a long path
into the clearing. It was cooler in the woods,
and it was peaceful.
After the wedding, we did all of the traditional stuff,
but we knew that we wanted to incorporate
the Ford Galaxy - Greg's baby.
So we came up with the idea of a "pop art"
piece done with 3 different photos that told the
story. This is the first in the series and we're trying to
decide which way we like it best.

Weddings - I've often said that I
don't shoot weddings any more,
but after this weekend, I may be changing
my mind!

This very handsome groom is my nephew, Adam.
His beautiful new wife is Cindy.

They've been together forever and
I felt priviledged that they
wanted me to take their wedding photos.

The day was beautiful and not one of the terrible
hot, humid days we've had recently.
The church was small and filled to the
rafters (not to mention the front porch)
with folks who love Adam and Cindy
and wanted to share in their special day.

A big portion of my family was there and
it was so nice to see them all.

The best man was kind enough to take
this photo of our crew.

Newborn sessions are always fun, but this one was one of the best!
We always say that the best photos happen when babies
are 2 weeks old or less. Little Jaden was only 10 days old!

His mommy and daddy are going to have a rough time
choosing their favorites because there will be so
many to choose from!

Did you hear that we have a new line of baby hats to use?
One of our other baby client's grandma knits the

We were walking in the park and up through the
secret path and she kept telling me we
had to be quiet so we didn't scare the
squirrels and the rabbits.
This is one of my favorite park pictures so far this year.

Senior Portraits - Louisville and Southern Indiana

School is out for most of the area - our kids in Greater Clark have a couple more weeks, but it's almost over. That means it's time to think about Senior Portraits for the Class of 2011.

Why should you choose Moments to capture your senior portraits? You'll get a professional photographer with more than 20 years of experience who understands lighting, posing and retouching. Sessions are fun and include a huge variety of indoor and outdoor images. The portraits you receive are going to be printed at a professional lab - not at a chain store or drug store. The quality will be much higher and they will retain their color and lustre forever, no fading or turning brown with time.

Your kids will be high school seniors only once and the old saying is true - you get what you pay for. Last year we had several seniors who came to us after receiving their "portraits" that were taken by a friend, a friend's mom and other's that were taken at a one hour place. The color was off (only alien skin should look green), they were crooked and off center, lighting was bad, edges of backgrounds were visible and they weren't printed on professional paper. They were so disappointed after spending several hundred dollars on mediocre photos. Then came to us to get something more "professional". Don't let this happen to you!

Our work is 100% guaranteed. Does the Mom with a Camera guarantee her work? Does the one hour studio? Probably not.

In an effort to help our parents and kids get the very best deals possible, we offer lots of specials. Currently, all of our senior session fees are 1/2 off. We have given our class of 2011 models $25 coupon cards that they are sharing. These can be used for either a bigger discount on your session or be used on any portrait purchase.

We are Charlestown High School's primary photographer, which means we photograph all of the sports teams, prom, homecoming and graduation. But we also are the photographer all CHS seniors must come to to get their yearbook head shot taken.

The normal price for a yearbook head shot is only $10, which includes several poses from which to choose, as well as all retouching. However, during the months of June and July, all CHS Head shots are totally FREE! If you book a regular senior portrait session with us, your head shot is always free.

Sharon and I are having a fun (but exhausting) time at our photography conference. We are going to be coming back with so many new ideas, it's overwhelming.

We've been learning about standing out from the crowd and not being afraid to be a "black sheep". We've learned some new lighting techniques. Found several new products we want to introduce to you and much more!

Our favorite seminar so far has been from the Boudior Divas - which comes just in time for our Flirty Photo sessions that are coming up. Wow, I can't wait to show you what we learned from them - it's going to be fun, ladies!

After that, I got to do an interview that will be used by the Professional Photographers of America to promote reasons why you should use a professional photographer rather than someone less experienced. That was too fun, and you know I hammed it up for that. LOL

Then we got to hang out a little bit with Lori Nordstrom, a fantastic photographer from Iowa. She specializes in maternity and new born photography.

It's only dinner time, and we still have two sessions to go today, plus a party with the official photographers of the White House.

Sharon wants me to let you know that she discovered a new line of jewelry for us and it is cool with lots of "bling"! You guys know me, I love the bling! Once we're home, you'll have to stop by and check it all out, cause it's beautiful AND affordably priced.

Gotta run, headed to a session to learn some new posing ideas for families. Then we'll sit in on a discussion about children's photography. Tomorrow we'll tackle seniors.

What a crazy couple of weeks. But we are finally in the new building.
Sharon and I couldn't have done it without lots and lots of helpers!
Cody was wonderful packing, hauling, lifting, painting and more!
Lindsey and Rachel kicked butt on painting the new floor and more!
Karli and Courtney were great movers, lifters and helpers!
Bardlee was an awsome mover and lifter in addition to crawling
around in the attic!
Jason did a terrific job on the drywall.
Josh is my favorite electrician and all around handy guy!
Bailey was an excellent mover and painter.
Emmaly and Mariah even got to paint!
Chrissa was the very best shredder and "go get it" girl.
Chelsea was super and kept us all fed and full of Polar Pops.
Last but not least, Christie and Chuck went way beyond the
call of duty. There's no way Sharon and I could be ready
to open on Tuesday without all of their help!
I hope I haven't left anyone out because it took all of us to
make it happen.

Thank you never seems like enough for all everyone did
for us. You know we love you all!
